Booking our tour in Phuket gave us that flexibility. The first encounter will likely be in your hotel lobby, with a gazillion brochures for you to choose. For example, different tour groups will have the same itinerary with varying types of boats. Or, there will be itineraries that are almost identical, except one or two activities are swapped out. Are you pulling your hair yet? The paradox of choice becomes very obvious when shopping for tours, and making a decision will be difficult.
The only difference is that street vendors will be cheaper than the hotel prices by about baht. I suspect that each kiosk is independently owned and they make arrangements with the tour company on your behalf on the spot. You might save money by booking the tours at these kiosks, but the customer service will not be there.
The problem I have with these booths is that these stands are random and located in the middle of the street. Ah, so here is an important question you need to ask yourself.
What do you do? Who are you going to call? And if something goes wrong, how do you even hold these people accountable? This reason is why I recommend booking your tour through a reputable hotel. We stayed at Best Western Patong beach for part of our stay in Phuket and booked our tour through this hotel. It took us a long time to decide on which tour operator and tour to book. After speaking to a few vendors, we decided to book through our hotel.
We found Siriwan, the seller to be very trustworthy and attentive to our needs. We had asked other kiosks about safety, tour information and quality of service but no one gave us an honest answer.
Siriwan was the only person who was able to respond to our questions. While her prices were higher than the vendors outside the hotel, her service was exceptional. For example, on the day of the tour, she made sure to communicate with us that the driver was running late. When the driver finally arrived, she made sure we got into the right vehicle.
She also gave us her phone number in case we needed any help from her. I was so ill that I contemplated cancelling my trip because it was that bad. So why would you want to pay for a crappy lunch and location while you can get something better? For roughly around the same price. Because I have joined tours where you can enjoy a lunch buffet on a nice sandy beach with a view. All licensed tour operators in Thailand are required to carry insurance for tourists under their charge.
Keep in mind, some tour agencies may charge a little bit extra for insurance to cover children. Because if they are licensed tour agencies on the island they are required to provide it. Because information changes from time to time, and if travel insurance is your concern on any tour excursions in Phuket please contact the tour operator and inquire about their company tour insurance policy.
Booking tours in Phuket is usually smooth sailing pun intended as most tour operators on the island are doing their best to provide the best experience for their customers. Local tour guides spoke English or one other language. Most have a great sense of humor and fun conversations were had. The crews look out for the welfare of the passengers under their care and wants everyone to have a good time.

Thailand can be divided into three main regions for travelers: Northern Thailand for culture and elephants; Central Plains for Bangkok and city gateways; and Southern Thailand for great beaches. Bangkok and the nearby areas are the most popular ones in this region for city tours, exotic food, and cultural experiences.
The diversity of people, rugged mountains, lush rainforests and wildlife are a gem for many travelers. Soft adventures are also popular, especially exploring the island by bikes or motorbike. Ko Samui is home to luxury resorts! It is quiet and most activities on the island are about SPA, cooking classes, Muay Thai, Yoga and kite surfing, which are very different from Phuket.
