Why does the eater of worlds keep dying

You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. When me and my friends were trying to defeat the Expert Eater of Worlds, my sister found out that the Slime Saddle is a great item to use in the fight. So we all borrowed her saddle, as we did not have our own, and we destroyed the Eater. But it didn't count as a defeat. It didn't say he was defeated and no bag or money was dropped.

We were disappointed and quickly summoned him again, only to have him leave the area a minute into the fight, as if we had all died. Disappointed once more, we went to bed. This would happen two more times the next day, until we gave in and fought him normally, where we actually defeated him. Is this perhaps a glitch? The first one is obviously one, pertaining to killing an enemy with a mount instead of an attack or trap. If you have an Autoswing weapon such as the Falcon Blade or a Katana , you can use a Grappling Hook and hook it to the ground to be able to remain stationary.

If you happen to have any Shadow armor , it could be useful, as it increases your melee speed. Once the Eater of Worlds has been summoned, begin swinging. As the Eater of Worlds tries to inflict damage by passing through you, the Autoswing weapon will destroy its sections fast and effectively, and the fight will be over fairly quickly.

This can also be used as an effective farming technique. It is recommended to have at least Life and Mana, which requires 5 Life and 4 Mana Crystals : if you've done some spelunking you're bound to have come across this many. Gold or Platinum armor is recommended. You can get Shadow armor by killing enough segments of the boss without necessarily defeating it, or Ancient Shadow armor by farming the Eaters of Souls. It is possible to kill the Eater of Worlds with just Iron or Lead armor , but the fight will be a bit more dangerous.

Tungsten or Silver armor works as well, and is safer than Lead or Iron. Pumpkin armor is another viable option, rewarding slightly less defense than iron, but increasing your damage output, which can ensure the fight is completed quickly. Fossil armor is a great choice for rangers although not having as much defense as other available sets. The Wizard set is the best offensive mage set available, but has little defense. The Jungle armor gives higher defense but has weaker magic offensive stats.

Rocket Boots or its upgrades are recommended as they can help with dodging. Accessories with Menacing or Warding will be most efficient here, but are not required.

Summoners should use the Flinx Fur Coat. The Slimy Saddle mount bounces when hit by the Eater of Worlds and does damage. When used in the open, it can protect you from being trapped. When used against a ceiling, the mount bounces rapidly, dealing large amounts of damage even in higher difficulty modes. With endgame, or even late pre-Hardmode, armor and weapons you can quickly defeat this easy-to-summon boss. Once you have recruited the Tavernkeep , his Lightning Aura sentries are deadly against the EoW, because once the head has passed a given point, all the body segments must follow.

Even the Rod can kill the boss "cleanly" from the head back in a few passes, while the player simply evades the worm and renews or moves the sentry as needed. Hardmode weapons that swing continuously such as the Phasesabers and Excalibur are extremely effective against the Eater of Worlds. Getting in a confined space and shooting a weapon like the Water Bolt will do lots of damage, but so will the worm.

Oh, what to do, what to do? Survival is key. Spoiler: Farming Later in the game, when you have more powerful gear, farming the Eater might be a good idea. Selling all its Demonite Ore and Shadow Scales can yield up to Spoiler: Arena The less terrain, the better.

This is because you can see him coming so you know where to go to be safe. A long row of platforms helps tremendously. Remember what I said? Don't go too high up, or else it'll despawn! You should probably include purification powder as another method of getting past ebonstone. Mebybemn said:. Click to expand Dreadful man Cultist.

A reaver shark can also be used to get past the ebonstone. It is fished out from the ocean. Smith Steampunker. I recently started an expert-mode corruption world. I died fighting the eater of worlds boss then it only spawned 2 orbs is this a glitch? Help please User Info: lemmingwarrior.

Top Voted Answer. You can summon the eater manually by making worm food and using it in a corruption zone. Requires 30 vile powder made from vile mushrooms and 15 rotten meat, dropped from the corruption enemies and mixed at a demon alter.
